A Great Spirit created the water, the fish, and the other creatures living in the water. The Spirit ordered the Crawfish to go under the water and to bring mud up to make the earth. The crawfish, after bringing up the mud, also made holes in the earth. It is from there the first Chitimacha man emerged.
