"Stories my Grandmother told me"

A Remembrance of my childhood        -        Mixed on panel - 38 x 24 in (framed)

This is a portrait of my grandmother telling the story of "The Creation". The creation story tells why people are of different colors. (The thing that looks like an igloo is actually an oven; the kind used long ago by the native people.) God made all people from clay and baked them in the oven until they were "done", but God was very busy. He did not have the time to just stand around until the people were "just right", so sometimes he took the people out a little too soon, and they turned out light, and sometimes he took them out a little too late, and those turned out dark. This is why people are colored from very light to very dark.
