"Homage to Indigenous Louisiana"

    Louisiana legend          -        Acrylic on canvas - 41.5 x 34.5 in.(framed)

The legend of the pelican tearing her breast so her blood could feed her young is comparable to the story of the indigenous woman sacrificing herself to become corn to feed her children and keep them from starving. The colors and patterns depicted on the baby blankets are taken from various southeastern indigenous tribes.
