Frida Kahlo's work has been an inspiration to me because she painted about the things she knew best, her life and her suffering. Her work is straightforward and honest. In "Frida With a White Rose", I chose to crown her with paint brushes and the color wheel, to symbolize that her art has become her life's crowning glory. The white rose in her hair represents the full blossoming of her artistic talent. Diego's eyes in her heart top the Aztec footprints she left on the thorntree of her suffering life. As the footprints on the tree show, she traveled upward, toward the crown, throughout her life, leaving behind the visual elements from her paintings for us to read her story.
